In line with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) commitment in the management, protection, rehabilitation and development of the environment, DENR 10 through the leadership of Regional Executive Director (RED) Henry A. Adornado collaborates with the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (4ID, PA), Beta Sigma Fraternity and Department of Agriculture (DA) on the Tree Growing Project activity dubbed as “Raising One Million Fruit-Bearing Trees’ Project” recently on July 9, 2023 in Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.

RED Adornado lauded 4ID, PA Commander Major General Jose Maria R Cuerpo II for leading and initiating the momentous Tree Growing Project with the Beta Sigma Fraternity, the Department of Agriculture and other officers and enlisted personnel of the 4ID. He also acknowledged the presence of DENR- Misamis Oriental Provincial Environment Natural Resources Officer Ferdinand E. Dagulo and CENR Officer of Initao Jerome G. Pioquinto for supporting the activity.

The event was in line with the Philippine Army's Green Camp Program in support to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.'s environmental protection and food security program to address climate change and the Beta Sigma Fraternity’s effort in preventing climate change by invigorating Private-Public Partnerships through the Whole-of-Nation Approach.

The said event was also part of the upcoming 77th Founding Anniversary of the Beta Sigma Fraternity, wherein RED Adornado and Maj. Gen. Cuerpo are both members of the honorable fraternity.

On the other hand, MGen Cuerpo II emphasized that the partnership between 4ID, DENR, Beta Sigma and DA will further strengthen partnership and collaboration to create more awareness on the importance of tree planting and environmental protection as a whole. He also calls on other partner volunteers and stakeholders to do their share to plant seeds of change today, to ensure a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.

The group successfully planted assorted fruit trees and endemic seedlings in strategic places inside the camp. The fruit-bearing seedlings were provided by DA while Molave seedlings were provided by DENR-PENRO of Misamis Oriental and CENRO Initao with the leadership of PENR Officer Dagulo and CENR Officer Pioquinto. #TayoAngKalikasan (RSCIG PR No.07-194-2023)
