Cagayan de Oro City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) Oro Rescue - Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Unit staff Hareul S. Regalado (left) turns-over a Reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Region X, Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City on January 21, 2021.   The said wildlife was found inside a residence at Barangay Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City and was immediately rescued by the CDRRMD-USAR unit.  Forester Paulyn Mae Laranjo (center) of the DENR X Enforcement Division and Regional Wildlife Rescue Center caretaker Elizer C. Luna (right) facilitated the turn-over of the Reticulated python from the CDRRMD-USAR.  The said wildlife was temporarily placed in the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center for proper custody, check-up and safekeeping on the same day.  Under Department Administrative Order (DAO) 2019-09, “Updated National List of Threatened Philippine Fauna and their Categories”, the Reticulated python is classified as other threatened species which is under threat from adverse factors such as over collection throughout its range and is likely to be move to the vulnerable category in the near future. #TayoAngKalikasan/RSCIG 01-006-2021
