The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Region X through Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Gingoog donates Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and school supplies to Agay-ayan Elementary School, Agay-ayan, Gingoog City on November 27, 2020.

CENRO Roel G. Dahonog (right) of Gingoog handed-over the school supplies to Agay-ayan Elementary School Principal Arlene Dagatan-Opaon (left). The school supplies are composed of 35 reams of A4 bondpapers, 15 pcs of computer ink and IEC materials on Solid Waste Management.

The donation of IEC materials and school supplies is part of the DENR X Youth Desk activities in celebration of November as National Environmental Awareness Month, National Clean Air Month and Climate Change Consciousness Week on November 19 – 25 with the theme “New Normal Challenge: Sustainable Actions for Sustainable Future.” #TayoAngKalikasan RPAO # 12-309-2020

Despite the continuous rise of the positive cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region X (DENR X) through its Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Bukidnon has distributed 483 agricultural land titles to qualified beneficiaries in different parts of Bukidnon on September 1, 2020 at Kaamulan Open Theater, Malaybalay City.

The land titles were distributed under the DENR’s Handog Titulo Program in partnership with the local government of Bukidnon. Provincial Governor Jose Ma. R. Zubiri, together with PENR Officer Vergilino P. Alima and other PENRO officials handed over the land titles to the beneficiaries from Valencia City and municipalities of Don Carlos, Talakag and Manolo Fortich.

In Valencia City, a total of 170 land titles were awarded covering an area of 156.3612 hectares. Don Carlos distributed 101 land titles with an area of 191.3831 hectares, Talakag 84 land titles covering 85.7151 hectares and Manolo Fortich 128 land titles with an area of 143.4542 hectares.

The Handog Titulo Program is in line with the Agency’s mandate to administer, manage and dispose public lands in favor of qualified beneficiaries, which aims to boost the distribution of land titles to combat poverty and foster progress and development. #TayoAngKalikasan (from the report of Arhleen Arat) 09-256-2020)

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy A. Cimatu visited DENR Region X and went to Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) - Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon last February 1, 2020.

The Secretary was accompanied by Chief of Staff and Undersecretary for Field Operations, (USEC) Rodolfo C. Garcia and other military comrades.

The party was welcomed by the OIC, Provincial ENR Officer Vergilino P. Alima who presented the profile of Bukidnon. OIC, CENR Officer Virgilio N. Batocail also presented the executive overview of CENRO Manolo Fortich to the Secretary.

Secretary Cimatu expressed his overwhelming appreciation to DENR personnel in Bukidnon for being in full support of his visit.

Secretary Cimatu called to accelerate the issuance of Free Patents of Alienable and Disposable lands. With regard to the Bukidnon Forest Incorporated (BFI), he instructed OIC, PENRO Alima, also the concurrent BFI General Manager, to pay the outstanding unpaid salaries of the BFI employees and start planting bamboo species both in BFI and National Greening Program (NGP) areas.

Secretary Cimatu also cited few distinctive factors causing plantation’s low survival rate and strictly instructed not to start NGP if the source of water is not assured.

“I am not after the number of hectares planted, I am after the number of trees that will survive”, Secretary Cimatu said.

He commended the Province of Bukidnon for being one among the provinces who have the highest survival rate in ENGP and likewise the top contributor of the country’s forest cover. He encouraged the people of Bukidnon to upkeep the record.

Secretary Cimatu also acknowledged all the job order employees. He challenged them to learn thoroughly the laws implemented by the Department and promised security of career to those with civil service eligibility.

Also present during the welcome program were DENR Regional Executive Director Arleigh Adorable, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Alrich Resma, PENR Officer Vergilino Alima of Bukidnon, PENR Officer Ferdinand Dagulo of Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon CENR Officers Ferddie Sususco, Felicisimo Escuadro, Jr., and Arnulfo Osio of Valencia City, Don Carlos, and Talakag, respectively.
