To capacitate the field coordinators and selected Community-Based Forest Management-People’s Organization (CBFM-POs) in handling and managing conflict within their respective offices and organizations, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources conducted a Conflict Sensitivity and Reflective Dialogue Training-Workshop on July 22-23, 2021 at Mt. Kitanglad Agro-Eco Farm, Barangay Imbayao, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

 

Senior Adviser of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit-GIZ-Conflict-Sensitive Resource and Asset Management in Butuan City Adonis S. Gonzales discussed about understanding conflict, violence and peace in various context, culture sensitivity and conflict sensitivity, and Do No Harm. He also shared about the steps of Reflective Structured Dialogue.

The participants actively participated during the training by stimulating the topics learned through Conflict Mapping by identifying the actors/players, position, interest and needs of those who are involve in the conflict and practice non-violent communication by using the four acronyms on how to communicate non-violently: O-Observation, F-Feelings, N-Needs and R-Request.

The CBFM-PO participants presented their output on the conflict table which included specific conflict/issues and problems currently pressing their organization that needs to be resolved with deeper understanding. One of the common problems they identified is the conflict between CBFM area with CADC/CADT claims.

On his closing remarks, OIC, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Vergilino P. Alima of Bukidnon encouraged the CBFM-POs to unite and strengthen their respective organizations as this will be their secret weapon in resolving the problems/conflicts they are facing.

The participating CBFM-POs from the province of Bukidnon included Abejed Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Pualas Higaonon Tribal Small Land Owners Association, Capitan Bayong ISF Farmers Association, Sitio Palaopao ISF Famers Association, and Mahayag United Farmers Association. #TayoAngKalikasan RSCIG 08-199-2021
