Cagayan de Oro City- To further educate stakeholders in the local government units in the Province of Camiguin, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region X (DENR X) conducted a one-day Orientation/Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign on the Water Use Regulation through Google meet application on May 20, 2021.

The Water Resources Utilization Section (WRUS) of the Licenses, Patents and Deeds Division (LPDD) spearheaded the IEC activity particularly for the Municipal Planning and Development Officers to be familiar on the Water Code of the Philippines and its Implementing Rules and Regulations and the processes of water permit application and its regulation which is commonly referred in their respective offices.

Forester Raul A. Pallares, Chief of WRUS discussed the roles and functions of the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) as an attached agency of the Department that is responsible for ensuring the exploitation, utilization, development, conservation and protection of the country’s water resource, consistent with the principles of “Integrated Water Resource Management” as well as NWRB’s Vision/Mission, legal mandates and major functions in the water sector.

He also enumerated the processes of Water Permit Application, to include the Qualification of Water Permit Applicant; Classification of Water Use; Requirement for Water used Application and the filing fees and other charges.

On the other hand, Forester Dario P. Barbarona, the OIC chief of the LPDD conversed the Water Code of the Philippines and its amended IRR to participants and facilitated queries during the open forum which was participated in by the PENR Office Merlyn Dumalahay and Rey Balbutin of PENRO Camiguin and other participants and representatives from the different lgu’s in the province. #TayoAngKalikasan (RSCIG PR No. 05-151-2021)
