Cagayan de Oro City- To further educate stakeholders particularly the Municipal Planning Development Officers (MDPOs) of the local government units of Lanao del Norte, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region 10 conducted a one-day Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign on the Water Use Regulation on March 29, 2019, this city.

The DENR 10 through the Licenses, Patents and Deeds Division (LPDD) steered the IEC activity for the MPDO’s to be familiar on the Water Code of the Philippines and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) particularly on the processes of water permit application and its regulation which is commonly referred in their respective offices.

Forester Joana Marie Zata in behalf of Forester Roel Dahonog, Chief of the LPDD discussed on the Institutional Structure of the Water Sector and its Laws on the Water Management. She also discussed the roles of the National Water Resources Board’s (NWRB’s) Vision/Mission, legal mandates and major functions in the water sector.

On the other hand, Forester Raul A. Pallares, Chief of Water Resources Utilization Section of the DENR 10 discussed the processes of Water Permit Application, this include the Qualification of Water Permit Applicant; Classification of Water Use; Requirement for Water used Application and the filing fees and other charges. He also disseminated the list of accredited/registered drillers in the region to avoid any problems in the future.
