The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 10 (DENR 10), together with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), signs the Memorandum of Agreement for the Reforestation Project for NGCP’s Agus2-Baloi KV 138 KV Transmission Line Project (A2BTLP) on September 9, 2019 in DENR 10 Regional Office, Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City.

The reforestation project is a compliance to the instruction of the agency to replace all the affected trees inadvertently planted underneath the transmission lines of A2BTLP, specifically those located in the municipalities of Balo-i and Pantar, Lanao del Norte. Based on the Tree Cutting Permit and Trimming/Pruning Permit issued by DENR 10, NGCP is required to replace 10,053 cut trees which is equivalent to 502,650 tree seedlings.

After a series of consultation meetings and in consideration of NGCP budget allocation, DENR 10 decided that only 238.78 hectares, following the National Greening Program (NGP) standard cost of ₱ 31,828 per hectare, will be subject for the reforestation project. Thus, the required 502,650 tree seedlings were reduced to 397,807 tree seedlings.

NGCP will provide the fund for the following activities: production of 397,807 tree seedlings, tree planting in the existing NGP plantation sites in the region with low survival rates and no more funds for maintenance and protection and protection and maintenance of planted replacement seedlings at the selected NGP sites for 3 years.

The signing was made by and between NGCP Assistant Vice President and Head of Quality, Safety and Environment Department Eric S. Diaz and DENR 10 Regional Executive Director Arleigh J. Adorable. Attesting witnesses were NGCP Finance Controller Mr. Raymund D. Fontillas and DENR 10 OIC Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Aldrich S. Resma.
