EMB 10 WELCOMES LEADERSHIP OF NEW REGIONAL DIRECTOR DIGAMO

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 10 welcomes a new leadership after 17 years. Outgoing EMB Regional Director Sabdullah C. Abubacar, who is now the Regional Executive Director of DENR Region 9, passed on the EMB 10 responsibilities to new OIC, Regional Director Reynaldo S. Digamo.

In a turn-over ceremony officiated by Assistant Secretary (ASEC) for Field Operations – Western Mindanao Jim O. Sampulna, DENR 10 Regional Executive Director Arleigh J. Adorable honored Director Abubacar for his accomplishments in EMB 10. Abubacar initiated partnerships with private companies in the region by mandating them to establish plantations for carbon sequestration through their Corporate Social Responsibility.

ASEC Sampulna expressed trust and confidence in the new line-up of leadership in Region 10. He also challenged officials to face responsibilities head on as he cited the famous line, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

RED Adorable also welcomed new EMB 10 Regional Director Digamo who he described as a seasoned public servant that will play a big part in bringing the Office to greater heights.

In his acceptance speech, RD Digamo committed to fully support the programs and projects of DENR 10 in pursuant to DENR Administrative Order No. 2018-18 that establishes a unified command in DENR, MGB and EMB regional offices. He reminded the EMB 10 personnel to not only look at themselves as part of EMB alone but to look and consider themselves as a member of a bigger team that is the DENR Region 10.

Director Reynaldo Digamo was formerly the Regional Director of EMB-Cordillera Administrative Region based in Baguio City. #TayoAngKalikasan (RSCIS MR No. 01-010-2019)

DENR 10 SPEARHEADS THE “CHALLENGE FOR CHANGE PROGRAM: CDO LIMPYO DAGAT CONTEST”

Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region 10 (DENR 10) spearheads the “Challenge for Change Program (CCP): CDO Limpyo Dagat Contest” as part of its continuing effort to intensify the environmental protection consciousness of the people and generate greater participation in the conservation and management of environment, particularly the Macajalar Bay. CCP is a social media campaign to encourage people to keep the environment clean and free from trashes.

DENR 10 escalates the said campaign in a contest format in relation to this year’s Month of the Ocean theme “Free the Sea from Marine Debris.” The agency encourages all coastal barangays of this city to undertake regular clean-up activities to save the Macajalar Bay. Also, to promote a sustainable partnership among the City Local Government Unit (LGU), private sectors, academe, religious institutions and relevant National Government Agencies.

The contest will be conducted through regular clean-up activities along the coastal barangays in this city such as Bulua, Bayabas, Bonbon, Macabalan, Puntod, Lapasan, Gusa, Cugman, Tablon, Agusan, Puerto and Bugo. It is open to all local stakeholders willing to clean, mobilize coastal communities and improve the coastal areas. A group of not less than 15 members, coined as CCP Cooperators, may select any of the coastal barangays mentioned and lead the conduct of regular clean-up activities therein. Clean-up sites will be monitored twice every month from June to September 2019 by the assigned judging committee.

The awarding of winners will be on September 21, 2019 in consonance to the celebration of International Coastal Clean-up Day (Presidential Proclamation No. 470.) CCP Cooperators will be judged according to the cleanliness of the coastal barangays they selected, innovations undertaken by them to mobilize the coastal communities and consistency of cleaning efforts through the attendance of members and regular clean-up activities conducted.

DENR 10 encourages the coastal residents and other local stakeholders to be responsible in keeping and throwing their trashes in order to maintain the aesthetic beauty of our ocean and thereby protect the marine life ecosystem. #TayoAngKalikasan RSCIS MR No. 06-157-2019
